Erica graduated with honors from Miami University of Ohio and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology and Environmental Principles and Practices. She was a 2013 Teach For America corps member in Eastern North Carolina and served her commitment at Northwest Halifax High School as a special education science teacher. Afterward, she moved to the Wake County Public School System and was a special education reading teacher at Garner Magnet High School where she served on the School Improvement Team, Instructional Leadership Team, and the Media and Technology Advisory Committee. During the 2019-2020 school year, Erica was the Principal Resident at River Bend Middle School located in Raleigh. Currently, Erica is serving as the seventh and eighth grade special education English Language Arts teacher at A.C. Reynolds Middle School in Asheville, NC. ERICA IS A FELLOW IN THE WAKE PRINCIPAL LEADERSHIP ACADEMY
The Wake Principal Leadership Program (WPLP) is a principal preparation program designed to train future leaders to serve in the Wake County Public School System. WPLP was modeled after the award winning NC State program, the Northeast Leadership Academy (NELA). NELA earned the honor of being named an Exemplary Educational Leadership Program by the University Council for Educational Administration. A grant from the state of NC through the North Carolina Alliance for School Leadership Development (NCASLD) funds WPLP, including full scholarships for WPLP's Fellows.
